Pick a date below and put down a $20 deposit online. It takes a couple of minutes. The $79 balance is due on the day of class, cash or credit.
Spend a Saturday with us
Eight hours at Recoil Firearms in Taylor, classroom in the morning and about three hours on the range in the afternoon. Your certificate is handed out at the end of the day.
Apply at your county clerk
Take your certificate to your county clerk, submit your application and fingerprints, and your license comes in the mail. The state application fee is separate and paid at the clerk.

Will Luker
Founder of USGunClasses, USCCA Training Counselor and Certified Firearms Instructor
Will is a USCCA training counselor, which means he certifies other instructors to teach this class. He has certified around 100 of them. He has been a reserve deputy assigned to the Internet Crime Unit for many years and has worked with law enforcement since high school.
His specialty is the legal side, covering the Michigan laws on carrying a concealed pistol in plain language, with the scenarios that actually come up. He teaches the Taylor classes alongside Dan, and both are on the range with you during the live fire portion.
He is also an NRA certified instructor for Basic Pistol, Personal Protection in the Home, Personal Protection Outside the Home and Range Safety Officer.

Questions students ask
Is this class approved for a Michigan CPL?
Yes. It is the US Concealed Carry Association Concealed Carry and Home Defense Fundamentals course, which Michigan recognizes for the CPL. Your certificate is valid for your application at the county clerk.
What does it cost?
Tuition is $99. You reserve your seat with a $20 deposit online and pay the $79 balance on the day of class, cash or credit. The state application fee is separate and paid at your county clerk.
Do I need my own gun?
No. Rentals and ammunition are available at the range. You can also add the Ultimate Range Experience for $50 on the day of class, which lets you shoot 14 or more different pistols back to back to work out what you like before you buy one.
Where is the class held and how long is it?
Recoil Firearms, 22509 Ecorse Rd, Taylor, Michigan 48180. The class runs eight hours, with roughly three of those on the range.
I already have a CPL and just need to renew.
The renewal class is $39 and runs about three hours. You can take it in person in Taylor or live on Zoom. If your CPL has been expired for more than a year, you have to take the full eight hour class again.
What should I bring?
A good attitude, a pen, and your own pistol and ammunition if you have them. Eye and ear protection are provided. Snacks and lunch are on us.
What if I cannot make my date?
